Matrix Sag Award Style For January Jones

For the Screen Actors Guild Awards, Matrix stylists wanted to give January Jones a gorgeous, modern hairstyle to match her beautiful Andrew Gn dress. He first applied Biolage Volumizing Whipped Mousse to her damp hair and blow dried it with a Spornette Mixed Bristle Round Brush. Next, he took three inch sections of hair and sprayed them with Vavoom Gold Heat Iron-In Volume Protective Dry Mist and wrapped each section around a GHD 1 1/2 inch curling iron and set for 15 minutes. When all the hair was set and curled he took out the pins and brushed out the curls with a Mason Pearson flat brush. The end result was a soft yet modern look that played up January's natural beauty.

Sag Award Style For Amy Adams

For Amy Adams, as soon as Matrix stylists saw her beautiful dress, he knew her hair should be in an updo. He first applied Vavoom Height Of Glam Volumizing Foam to her damp hair and blow dried it with his fingers -- no brushes allowed! When all her hair was dry, he took a dollup of Biolage Molding Souffle in his hands and raked it through Amy's hair. Next, he gathered all her hair at the back of her head and twisted it into a large, messy bun, securing it with several bobby pins. To make sure the style lasted all night, he finished the look off by spraying her hair all over with Vavoom ShapeMaker Extra-Hold Shaping Spray.

As seen in at the Golden Globes - Matrix Styles Amy Adams

For nominee Amy Adams' Golden Globes hairstyle, Matrix was inspired by Amy's natural beauty and the gorgeous Lorraine Schwartz earrings she chose to wear with her gown.

Because Amy's dress was so stunning and dramatic, He decided to keep her hair soft and natural.  He did not want to change her natural texture so he decided to let her hair air dry. Once the hair was dry, He took random three to four inch sections of her hair and sprayed each with Vavoom Gold Heat Iron-In Control Protective Dry Mist, and then wrapped the hair around a 1 ½ inch curling iron from root to end.  To finish the look, he wanted to showcase the earrings, so he took the side sections of her hair, pulled them back and secured them with bobby pins, leaving a few strands of hair out on each side to keep the style looking young and modern.

As seen in at the Golden Globes - Matrix Styles January Jones

For January Jones, Matrix decided to take a glamorous old Hollywood look and bring it into modern times. He was inspired by Veronica Lake’s classic waves, but for this look, he wanted to mess them up just a little bit to give the style an edge.

he first applied a dollop of Biolage Volumizing Whipped Mousse to January's wet hair and blow dried it with a medium Spornette mixed bristle round brush. He then parted her hair on the side part and took two inch sections of hair, spraying each with Vavoom Gold Heat Iron-In Control Protective Dry Mist and wrapping the hair around a 1 ½ inch curling iron, and then securing the curl with a hairpin. When all her hair was set in barrel curl s, he let them cool for about 15 minutes. Once the hair had cooled down, he removed the hair pins and brushed her hair with a Mason Pearson brush so the hair fell into 1940s waves. To finish, he sprayed the hair with Biolage Shine Endure Spritz for hold and shine that lasted throughout the night.

Victoria Beckham Brings the Pixie
How do I know if a pixie cut is right for me?

According to C.R.A.F.T. Styling and Finishing, the modern-day pixie, with its soft detailed edges and minimal volume, is a perfect choice for those individuals with either a square or a triangular face shape. The cut and style soften the lines of the facial structure by adding slight visual fullness at the top of the head and at the same time directing the eye upward. The cut places subtle volume above the jaw line while the softness of the perimeter serves to round out an angular face shape resulting in an appealing and flattering effect.  Visit a salon near you to get this look.

I want to know the best way to make my hair dark without looking fake?

1st seek professional consultation- go to the salon locator and make an appointment with a matrix colorist.

Depending on your natural/existing level- to remain more natural looking you should only go 2 levels darker than what your natural is otherwise you get roots in 2 weeks and it does look fake. Ask your colorsist for a dimensional color. They will deepen and take on the tone of the darker but will not reach the same depth and as a result, will look more like natural color does- your end result will be dark with dimension instead of solid color.

I dyed my hair too black! How do I fix it?
You will need something called a tint removal from a professional stylist. After you see your stylist, ask them for some good color maintaining products. Click on the "Find a Salon" or "Where to Buy" link and find a matrix colorist near you.
How to tell my stylist that I don't like my haircolor?
Today my stylist highlighted my naturally brown hair with blonde highlights. I had already gone blonde, more strawberry than true blonde before she applied the highlights. It is so blonde and concentrated only in the crown of my head. I don't like it but don't know what to ask for to change it. What do I ask for? What can be done to look more like a natural blonde vs. a bleached blonde?

The most important thing you can do is communicate. Share your concerns with your stylist. Communicate to her that you feel too blonde and tell her you would like some lowlights added in. Your stylist will be more than happy to help you out.
Adding fullness to fine hair
My hair is baby fine and long....I am looking for something to give me more fullness and I am trying to keep the length....can you help?

You need the Amplify Shampoo and Conditioner for sure! This line is specifically targeted for Baby Fine hair! We have 2 shampoos: One for color-treated, and one normal. We have a rinse-out conditioner that absolutely will not weigh the hair down! Amplify also has a wide variety of styling aids: Thick-Boost Gel, Root-Lifter spray, Foam Volumizer, and an Aerosol Hairspray. As I said, the whole line is meant to build body on fine textured hair. I know you will love it and you can buy it at your local hair salon! Good Luck! You also may want to consider just a few long layers to give the hair some movement and volume.

Preventing Dry Hair

I want to try your new products for curly hair. Mine is wavy/curly, fine, brown, some gray on the top roots area with lighter ends and top layer due to the environment. I just have a brownish gold color pulled through. I live in Arizona, so it is dry!

I want moisture yet some separation in the curls. I see the Curl.life Contouring Cream and the Contouring Milk. What is the difference? Should I also use a wax or something at the end?

Also, at times I blow it out, what is the best to use for smoothing hair such as mine yet giving it body?

I really appreciate your help!

Here's the difference between Curl.life Contouring Creme and Contouring Milk. Contouring Creme will give your curls definition, moisture and conditioning benefits, and very soft effects. Contouring Milk will offer the same benefits . Contouring Milk contains ultra light styling waxes and silicones for extra control and also help to boost body into your fine hair. You can use both products on wet hair and add more for extra definition when your hair is dry. They are both light and will not weigh your hair down. Because of the environment in Arizona, I suggest the Contouring Milk.
