Formulas
We believe in the well-being of our stylists and clients.
- While parabens and silicones are commonly used and historically safe to human health, we are developing select paraben and silicone-free formulas to meet the requests of some of our clients.
Packaging
We care not only about what is in the bottle, but about the bottle itself.
- Since 2008, we have introduced 10 bottles with up to 25% post-consumer recycled (PCR) content, and in 2010, we are introducing new 1-liter bottles that contain up to 50% PCR content (excluding cap).
- More than 96% of the products we sell globally do not use outer cartons.
- We are working on setting specific goals to increase the percentage of PCR content in our packaging.
Manufacturing
We closely monitor both the inputs and outputs of our manufacturing processes.
We strive to reduce consumption of energy and water, and minimize the emissions and waste created by the production of our products.
In 2008, the U.S. plant that manufactures Biolage:*
- Reduced total energy consumption by 13%.
- Reduced water consumption by 23%.
- Increased the proportion of recovered/reused waste by 67%.

Communities
We are invested in the health and well-being of our salon communities and the planet.
- We support the U.S. Conservation Fund. Since 2008, we have contributed over $150,000, resulting in the planting of more than 10,000 trees in wildlife reserves.
